Another trip to the local junk yard

Posted by Andrew Lydecker on

Finding cars in a junk yard older than the mid 1980s is rare these days.  Occasionally, a classic finds its way to the aisles of the local you pull it yard here in Memphis. I happened upon this 5th generation AMC Ambassador on my last trip.  The Ambassador was a mid sized car manufactured by American Motors Corporation from 1958-1974. This particular example was powered by the 327 V8 backed by a 3 speed automatic transmission.  Also evident were the power disc brakes and air conditioning.  The Ambassador was at a disadvantage, lacking the big block horsepower provided by GM and Chrysler in their mid sized cars, and selling for a premium over those cars.   These cars today remain less popular than their more muscular counterparts, and as a result, clean examples can still be had for a reasonable price.
